muddy epic weekend

Tough Mudder was SO much fun! I know in my recent posts about it I sounded pretty terrified, and I was still nervous of how I was going to perform even the day of. Well we definitely had the best weather we could've ever hoped for and our groups spirits were high. With little time to stretch, we hollered the Tough Mudder chant along with the other runners getting ready to take off. The combination of steep hills, ICE filled mud baths with barbed wire overhead, and scaling 12-15ft. walls were the first of 29 obstacles that our team overcame. A few of my favorites were: 1.)Everest, where we had to run up a slippery quarter pipe and pull ourselves to the top. 2.)The Bog Jog, where we needed to take our shoes and socks off if you didn't want to lose them in this thick, clay-like sludge. 3.) I really did enjoy climbing the 'Berlin Walls'. That's when the entire team truly relied on each other to be able to finish the race. About five hours later...we all came face to face with the obstacle we had been dreading for 3 months..'Electric-shock Therapy'. At this point, it seemed that all of our "strategies" didn't even sound clever; so as we ran through one after the other, we were pleased to have made it to the finish line with only a few getting shocked..I guess they said it was more like a sting, so we worried ourselves over nothing. All in all I think it's the most fun I've ever had at run; the challenging obstacles, camaraderie, and the feeling of getting nice and dirty made it so sweet.

annnnddd Matt's Epic Birthday! The only way you will understand this is if you've seen the youtube channel 'Epic Meal Time' which can easily be know as one of Matt's favorites to keep up with on a weekly basis. We surprised him by recreating one of the videos. Had him wear his bacon strips shirt and aviators, while holding Jack Daniels and flipping a bacon weave for lunch. 56,390 calories later...happy birthday Matt
