Motivation Monday

Change is uncomfortable.
i've been pulling the same routine for a while now with bad eating habits, lack of exercise, and little to no motivation.

it's time for a CHANGE!

as you may know, i am a fairly tiny/skinny girl thanks to my beautiful mommy and good jeans. i may look 'healthy' on the outside, but what i put into my body is not necessarily defined as something nutritional.

time to get toned

over the past year i have graduated college, gotten married, moved to a different city, and have started to create for myself, more of a healthy lifestyle. with the help of matt, who is incredibly strong-willed and won't even cheat a little on the new health plan we've set for ourselves, our cousin tory who is vegan and shares her thoughts about food with us and who is also active, and for the new EONI health line that hill country bakery has launched..we are on our way to shaping up and getting our priorities in order!

preparing for the tough mudder back in october was what jump started this change. i noticed i was lacking energy and unable to do some of the exercises i had succeeded in before just 5 years ago. (stinks getting old)

cutting out/down sodas and juices, fast foods, frozen dinners and those delectable sweets is a must for getting back into shape. replacing them with water, fruits(healthy sugars), EONI barookie's as a snack(good for sustained energy and all natural), and fresh meats and veggies. don't deprive yourself!!! you should never cut a meal out of you day! and have a small chocolate treat every once and a while. we have our cravings:)

i really enjoyed reading the tips of 'the secret to living a sexier life' by marisa miller in women's health magazine. my favorite highlight was that she likes to eat naked!! --She says "Eating smart is all about having an awareness of your body. The most obvious way to do that is by seeing it. So when you're trying to lose weight, spend more time wearing less." She goes on to say... "I don't think I could eat a plate of nachos naked-- could you?" haha so i don't think i'll be eating naked, but maybe just keep a closer eye on what i'm putting in my mouth. isn't she hot::

the Tone it Up duo, karena and katrina, have also become great influences on my new schedule. check out their awesome site on toneiitup.com. they also have a facebook, twitter, a tone it up community where you can journal your work outs and chat with other members, and blog, so it's really easy to keep updated. they are both Fitness & Lifestyle Coaches, Personal Trainers, and Sports Models for popular magazines such as Women's Health, Shape and more. these girls know what they're talking about when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle and they're energy, passion, and influence are noticeably driven. i haven't yet taken on the challenge of their amazing nutrition plan yet(most likely will after finishing p90x with matt), but i do very much enjoy their workout videos, beauty tips, and super fun personalities. it makes working out exciting! moving right along

january has been full of fun events thus far..after having finally gone to the doctor only to get 2 shots in the rear and $100 worth of medicine to get me feeling happy and healthy again.

hill country bakery's new healthy living line, EONI, was at the rock n' roll marathon in phoenix, az and we had such a great turn out. met some really amazing people there and a couple of us even decided to sign up to run the san diego half marathon in june!!!

after almost a year living in our house i finally had it all to myself for a few days while the boys went to houston to for work. it was nice and relaxing, beginning training for that crazy 13 mile run i've decided to participate in, playing with sweet zoey, cleaning the house, and reading one of my new favorite books. the hunger games trilogy has me very enamored right now. having already read the first book in a few short days i've already begun catching fire and i literally run to read it every chance i get
i have also taken an interest in watching little zoey violently tear away at this new stuffed dragon toy matt bought for her. within in seconds of receiving the toy she ripped a hole right below its tail(yes in the buttox) and a deluge of cotton stuffing covers our floors like snow every time she wrestles with it. the best part is, since matt bought the thing, he has to clean up the mess :)

i bought some basil, mint and rosemary along with some really cute pots today. tomorrow im going to make an herb garden for window over the sink to livin up our kitchen a bit.

sooooo..

i'm cheating on my 'take a picture a day' project and have been using my phone(instagram app) instead of my camera. yes yes it's what every photographer hates most, someone that takes pictures with their phone and calls it photography, but it's been more accessible for me lately than lugging my large 5D around; which was my initial plan. it's also been a little tough for me to follow through with a couple of other goals on my list since i've been sick with bronchitis for three weeks..bleh! so as soon as i lose this runny nose and annoying cough, the first thing i'm going to do is catch up with Matt in P90X and we'll be on our way to encouraging each other to stay on a healthy path.

a few of the photos i've taken this week:

welcome 2012

RECAP:
-2011 was a blissful year...new job
-married the man of my dreams
-bought a house together
-fell in love with a black & white puppy
-traveled a lot
-met new people and so much more.

RESOLUTIONS:
-run my first half marathon
-take a picture a day..something fun for myself
-get our house completely organized..big prayers for this one
-eat healthier
-participate in a triathlon whether i run it as a relay or by myself
-travel more..possibly outside the US

however, my main resolution on top of those is to continue to seek balance in all aspects of life, be more present, enjoy the journey the best i can, and..
simplify, simplify, simplify!
